Meredith and Mark's Pledge to Our Metuchen Neighbors
We love this town—and we’re ready to protect what makes it special. Here’s how:
1. Redirect OverdevelopmentSome development is good. We want Main Street to thrive and improve problem locations like the gas station at Main & Amboy. But let's prioritize protecting our schools, infrastructure, and small-town charm. No more massive apartment buildings.
2. Cut Wasteful Spending
Metuchen’s taxes have increased more than neighboring towns. In 2025, the Council voted for a 3.15% increase, vs. Woodbridge: +2%, Edison: +0.98%, and Westfield: 0%. It’s time to eliminate non-essential roles and reallocate funds to public safety and essential services.
3. Fiscal ResponsibilityNo new spending without cutting waste. Every tax dollar should be treated with respect—just like families run their households.
4. Put Residents First on Taxes & Incentives
Maximize marijuana tax revenue and shift tax breaks from apartment developers to homeowners restoring historic properties.
